Kat Von D True Romance Pigment in Meditation

The Meditation pigment is my first Kat Von D makeup product; it is currently on sale at Sephora for $7. This seemed like a bargain considering MAC pigments are $21 (and the original price of this pigment was $16), so I decided to give it a whirl! Meditation is described as a “copper rose shimmer” and comes in an adorable little jar adorned with flowers and fancy fonts. One jar contains 5 grams. This is a generous amount since pigments tend to last forever, as a little goes a long way!

I applied the pigment with a Rite Aid Renewal shadow brush by shaking a little bit of the pigment out of the jar through the holes inside. Pigments tend to be messy, so there was no way I was about to take that little part off of the jar! 🙂

OVERALL REVIEW

Application: I had no problems applying this pigment and it wasn’t messy since it stuck to the brush nicely. It was very easy to smooth onto the lid as well. A little goes a long way, so you don’t need much to apply!

Feel: The texture of the pigments feel a little gritty in the jar, but this doesn’t transfer to the lid. It isn’t scratchy.

Staying power: I layered this over the MAC Painterly Paint Pot and it stayed quite vibrant all day until I took it off in the evening, so I was impressed with that!

Convenience and packaging: Adorable, beautiful…I love this packaging. The details are intricate and pretty, and the jar is small enough to tote along. It also has a very secure lid, so you don’t need to be afraid of spilling it everywhere.

Price: Originally $16, now $7, but again these will last forever so it is well worth it!

Apparently I really like this color, because just look at the swatches above! Not all the same, but this pigment is quite similar to L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush, if not an exact dupe. Mac Gift O’ Glamour is more golden peachy (in the jar it simply appears golden); Urban Decay YDK is more of a brown copper. Sin is definitely lighter and pinker, while the Too Faced Spotlight shade from the Natural At Night palette is similar, but minus the coppery tones.

Overall, I am pleased with this pigment and would purchase Kat Von D pigments in the future!
