Brow pencil is one of those beauty products I cannot live without on a daily basis! I use brow pencil every day, and would even choose brow pencil over wearing mascara. My brows aren’t sparse by any means, but I feel that brow pencil gives me a more polished look, and helps to keep my unruly brows in place!
Let’s backtrack a bit: before discovering these two pencils, I was using whatever brown brow pencil I found at the drugstore; usually Wet ‘n’ Wild or NYC, but the color match was never exactly what I wanted. In most cases, everything I found was just too warm for my brow, hair, and complexion color. Finally, I discovered two pencils that I adore: Sonia Kashuk’s Brow Definer pencil in Taupe, and MAC’s Impeccable brow pencil in Taupe, which is of course discontinued since I like that a bit better.
Sonia Kashuk Brow Definer Pencil:
The SK pencil is very affordable at just $6 at Target. Made in Italy, it’s a grayish brown shade. It’s a neutral shade, so it isn’t too warm like other pencils I have tried. It glides on smoothly without tugging, and easily lasts all day. My only issue with this pencil is that I wish it were a smidgen darker. This pencil has a 4.9 rating on Makeup Alley with 15 reviews.
MAC Impeccable Brow Pencil:
Well, I adore this pencil. It is absolutely perfect for me in terms of color and texture. It’s a little waxy, which I need to keep my brows in place, even though I use a clear gel for that. The pencil always looks natural and it’s easy to fill in sparse areas without overdoing it, and it’s dark but not too dramatic. Even though it’s discontinued, there are still some places to get it, and so far I have one backup. Also, even though it is discontinued, the prices are still $15, which was the original retail price.
Even though I’ll have to bid farewell to my beloved MAC brow pencil someday, the Sonia Kashuk pencil will do. I just hope that one doesn’t get discontinued as well! 😉
