Hello! I’ve been long absent here due to a busy work week, car trouble, and a total change of holiday plans. My hubby and I have two vehicles, and our most reliable one needed a new transmission, two days before we were going to leave! I live a good eight hours from my parents, which is where we were planning to go, so they made the trip down. It actually worked out pretty well and my mom, sister, and I did some Black Friday shopping!
Let me preface this by saying I have never been Black Friday shopping before due to working retail on that day when I was in high school and college. Since my sister and mom live in rural areas without any real shopping, so I just went with it. We did NOT do the crazy Thanksgiving night or way early Friday shopping. We left my place around 8:30 in the morning, but didn’t get back until 6 p.m.!
Target was our first stop! My mom said she still had some Christmas shopping to do for me, so I picked out this Kirna Zabete dress, which was on super clearance from The Shops. I love the texture and detailing, even though it’s black. Very edgy and I don’t have anything else like it. She wrapped it though, so I won’t be wearing it for awhile!
I purchased two cardigan sweaters that were on sale as well. I haven’t blogged about clothes at all here, but I wear a cardigan sweater 99% of the time. My standard outfit is tights, a dress, and a cardigan. Most of my cardigans are black, and I’ve been wanting a lighter colored one, and houndstooth is my all-time favorite print, so this was a great find! I also picked up a mint green camisole with a little bit of lace detailing.
Our second stop was Ulta. Surprisingly I did not go too wild in there, and only spent 53 cents thanks to my rewards points. I used them to get these two items: OPI Skyfall (gorgeous red), and this Tarte Balanced and Beautiful set that includes a brush, cream eyeshadow in slate, and Amazonian clay blush in the shade Flush. I believe this was only available on Black Friday, so I’m glad I picked it up!
We popped into Sally Beauty Supply for a brief moment so I could get this brush called the Tangle Teezer. I’ve heard it is amazing, and it IS. I love it! My hair is long and has always tangled easily, so I’m really happy with my purchase.
The Fossil outlet was a little out of our way, but my sister really wanted to go there. Not to sound like a snob, but Fossil is the only brand of purse I carry, so I had no problem taking a spin down there. Everything was 40% off. My sister and I almost got the same bag, but I decided to get this one that is a little different than what I usually get. Plus, I figure that we can trade if we want to borrow them. The flap on this bag flips up and there’s a zipper leading to a pretty big compartment, then the other side also as some compartments. It doesn’t have a long strap, but I really like how it is the embroidered style.
I also got a couple of rings from Fossil. The yellow ring is actually from Target. The white ring and the keyhole ring are both from Fossil. I LOVE huge chunky rings and have quite the collection going.
We tried to go to Kohl’s once, but the parking lot was so crammed full of people that we ended up not even going in. We went to a different store later in the day and it was not nearly as busy. I absolutely LOVE Lauren Conrad and adore her line of clothes, so I bought this very sheer top that is adorned with pearls, and a really long crocheted dress. The dress actually has two layers; the dress stops a little above the knee, and then the crocheted part goes to the ground (the name of that style escapes me right now).
Also from Kohl’s, I got this lovely navy blue fascinator headband, and two pairs of Jennifer Lopez sunglasses. I was SO excited about the shades, because mine are terribly scratched and always fall off. The J-Lo sunglasses were $36 and marked down to $3.60, and the clearance was an additional 25% off, plus I had a 15% off coupon for everything, so they ended up being around $2.30 a pair.
Our craziest Black Friday experience was in Bath and Body Works. My mom got wrangled out of line by someone really rude (funnily enough, the next day we saw her working at a local pet store) and it was super crowded. My sister and I split the candle deal, and since I had a coupon for $10 off of $30, I ended up getting two packs of Wallflowers plus the candle for just $10.
We also went to JoAnn Fabrics at the end of the day after stopping earlier at one, but the line was literally to the back of the store. My mom is a quilter and sewer, but there’s only one fabric store where she lives (besides poor quality Wal-Mart fabric). I’m glad she was able to do some shopping there!
Our FINAL stop was popping into Walgreens for Jordana Best Lash Extreme Voluminizing Mascara. Seriously, this stuff is incredible! My mom bought two tubes, my sister bought one tube, and I bought a back-up. I’ll probably do a review on it soon!
Did you do any Black Friday shopping?
