Beauty is such a fun thing. It’s always something that is changing, whether it is through self-expression or a new product to try. There are always new trends, new colors, new promises made (with the thought of ‘does it really work?’), and just the plain old fun there is in getting a little pick-me-up through something new. That said, for some people this ends up turning into something that is out of control, which is how Project Pan was originally born. The whole idea behind Project Pan is to concentrate on using up products. I love watching PP videos on YouTube and empties videos as well. Everyone has different rules and reasons behind why they are completing Project Pan challenges, including me!
I don’t want to use the word “collection” because I don’t think of myself as a makeup collector. I use my products and want to enjoy what I have. Right now, I am very happy with my makeup. I have plenty of items to write about and review, and definitely enough colors to last probably a lifetime! My husband once remarked that the only problem with products is that they truly go on for infinity: there will always be something new, which is so true. I don’t feel like my “collection” (hate that word) is out of control, but I definitely want to downsize and focus on using up a few things before summer gets here; a bit of “spring cleaning” of sorts.
That is why I am embarking on a three-month Project Pan for myself, from January 13th until April 13th, which just happens to be my birthday! Will I go for longer? Maybe!
With that said, I am making ONE exception because I have been literally waiting for it since I heard about it late last summer: the MAC Archie Collection. I am a HUGE fan of Archie Comics and have been reading Archie since I was a kid! It’s a bit of a sentimental thing since my dad used to bring home packs of comics for us.
What I am going to accomplish:
- Using up items
- Saving money and not being wasteful
- Figuring out what I like THE BEST
- Downsizing and spring cleaning
- Using products I truly love
I will admit it right now: I am notorious for buying hair products, finishing 2/3 of the bottle, and then trying something new. I am also notorious for going out of town and forgetting some crucial beauty product (mostly for my HAIR of course) and then buying something new. One thing I refuse to do is to use something that I absolutely despise. Life is too short to suffer through using a product if you hate it!
During this time, I am going to focus on using up the products pictured here:
Bath and Body Works Cashmere Glow Lotion– I have two of these and need to use one up (one was a gift).
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer– This is the deluxe sample that came with my 500-point perk from Sephora.
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Foundation– I love this stuff and think I might be about halfway through the bottle, but I’m not certain on that. It’s heavier than I will want for summer, so I want to use it while it’s cool outside.
Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer– I like the product, but I hate that fuzzy applicator. It just screams “dirty” to me!
ELF Eyelid Primer– I am almost done with this tube and really like this primer.
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink– This is one of those items that I love but need to use up. I still have a lot left but I don’t want it to dry out before I get there!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Slate– This is a pretty small tub and I should be able to use it quickly. I like it as a base, but it’s already starting to get dry and I want to make sure I use it.
NARS Orgasm Mini Multiple– I’m almost finished with this little guy.
LUSH Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter– Since LUSH products are natural, I want to make sure that I use this up before it goes bad. I really like this cuticle butter!
Buxom Lip Gloss in Katie– I’m about halfway through this gloss right now and it is definitely a favorite of mine.
I am also going to use up other products I have and will be updating with empties posts. I’ll also probably update with some wishlist type posts too and my progress!
- MAC Archie’s Girls collection
- Shaving oil (a necessity for sure)
- Witch hazel (part of my skincare routine)
- Gifts and swaps (if that should happen)
I don’t see myself running out of any other beauty items that are part of my routine, especially not shampoo or body wash.
I am happy with what I have, and I need to enjoy it more. 🙂
