The Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Sticks are a relatively new product at the drugstore. Emily from Beauty Broadcast raved about these sticks in her annual Emily Awards, calling them the “sweatpants” of lip products due to their comfortable wear. Chubby lip pencils are a huge trend right now, and this product is similar to higher end counterparts in terms of application and style, but with some differences in wear.
I received the shade Sweet Watermelon from BzzAgent for consideration; however, here is my honest review!
Application: These lip pencils are a balm type of formula so they truly do simply glide onto the lips. The product is housed in a twist up tube; no sharpener.
Feel: This product is really soft and super silky! I’ve never felt anything quite like this in a lip product. It truly is comfortable. I think people who hate having stuff on their lips would like this product. It is very lightweight.
Color: I was surprised by the color of Sweet Watermelon. This shade is quite frosty and shimmery. It’s a pretty color, but I would definitely prefer if the shimmer was toned down a bit. You can really see it in the first photo.
Staying Power: This is supposed to “last for hours”, and it lasts around two hours (on me), but I didn’t find the staying power that great. Because this shade is quite pink and light, I can’t tell if there was a stain left because it just blended into my lips. It didn’t stain all day like the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.
Price: $9 at most drugstores and convenience stores.
The Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Sticks also have a fruity scent. Personally, I like the scent and it fades after the product has been applied to the lips. If you’re expecting a lasting stain like the Revlon or the Tarte jumbo pencils, you won’t find that here. If you’re someone who doesn’t like stains, you may like these pencils, as they are very comfortable to wear!
