I’ve been shopping my stash a lot and realized that I haven’t worn this Laura Geller baked foundation often enough. This came in the Femme Fatale kit that I purchased from Ulta in December. At the time the only set left had this Balance-n-Brighten in the shade medium. After swatching it on my hand in the store, I thought it would work for me, so I took a chance and I’m glad that I did!
A revolutionary baked foundation with multiple color infusions to color-correct your skin and give you a glowing, flawless-looking complexion. Mineral oil and paraben-free formulation also contains powerful anti-aging and anti-oxidant protection of Centella Asiatica and White Tea Extracts. Contains SPF.
I have not used this as a setting powder, but simply as a foundation, even though it can be used as a setting powder. I like that
Application: I apply this with a MAC Duo-Sided Sponge, which seems to be a pretty decent application method. With this sponge, it applies evenly and not cakey. Do note that with over application, this WILL look cakey!
Feel: This stuff is amazingly lightweight! I don’t feel this at all when I wear it and I absolutely love that about it!
Staying power: I set this with Urban Decay De-Slick, and it lasts until I remove it with no problem. I usually wear makeup for 10-12 hours in my day.
Convenience and packaging: The powder is housed in a simple round case with a little mirror inside. I appreciate the mirror but would not want to rely on it for all-over application. I do like being able to see the color through the lid window.
Price: $33 for 9 grams (.32 ounces).
Heavy swatch on my hand
Now for the scary part: let’s check this out with a before and after photo! Ready to see me without some makeup, first thing in the morning?
Good morning! Not exactly fresh faced in the morning, but oh well. I’m not wearing a lick of makeup here and the sun is shining in the background which is washing me out a bit. There was a change in lighting- sun before I showered, and no sun after I showered, which you can tell in the after photo.
Here’s the after! As you can see, this foundation really smooths out my skin and truly does brighten it as the name implies! I’m ONLY wearing the baked foundation in this photo and would actually feel comfortable going out with only this on. (Actually, I would never wear that tank top out since it is part of my pjs, but you get it. ;)).
