Never in a million years did I expect to wear an ORANGE lipstick. When the MAC Hayley Williams (online only) collection released, it wasn’t really on my radar, but when I saw the eyeshadow in the collection swatched, I HAD to have it! That’s how I ended up taking a chance on the lipstick of the collection: Sounds Like Noise. Now flash back to last year when Tangerine Tango was the Pantone Color of the Year: I bought the lip gloss set from Sephora. I figured if anything I could pair the lipstick with the glosses, and my reasoning was spot on!
If you don’t already know, Hayley Williams is the lead singer of Paramore. The HW collection only has four items: Sounds Like Noise lipstick, Riot Gear nail polish, Lightscapade MSF (which I already have and have reviewed), and Daydreaming eyeshadow (which I also picked up!). It’s a small collection that packs a punch!
Sounds Like Noise is a true orange lipstick with a matte finish. Mattes tend to be drying over time, so a balm is recommended if you have dry lips; I like to use MAC’s Prep + Prime when I wear difficult lipsticks. Still, I’ve had great luck with MAC’s matte lipsticks and find them incredibly wearable.
With gloss over it
Even though Sounds Like Noise is bright, it can be sheered out for a light wash of color.
Still wearing gloss…
I LOVE this color and am SO happy I took a chance on it. I have nothing else even close to this and think it is a very unique shade.
Sounds Like Noise is still available at MAC’s website, amazingly. It is $15, limited edition, and not in any special packaging. If you’re thinking about picking up an orange lipstick, I definitely recommend this one!
