NYX Matte Lipstick in Hippie Chic

HC3

I am so obsessed with pink lipsticks and glosses right now! Hippie Chic is a bright flamingo pink with a matte finish from NYX. This brings me to my conundrum: I am a girl with mostly dry lips who loves matte lipstick! That can be remedied with balms of course, and I prefer MAC Prep + Prime for lips when using difficult lipsticks.

This is the first lipstick I’ve tried from the NYX Matte range. I love the color, but the formula is less than desirable. While the texture is smooth and reminds me of some of my MAC matte shades, the way it applies is where the similarities end. This lipstick is on the streaky side and takes some work to apply evenly.

This lipstick also tends to settle in lip lines and accentuate dry areas, so exfoliating the lips is recommended, as with any matte formula. I haven’t tried this with a gloss yet, but think it would look great underneath one; a lot better than it is on its own.

Despite these downfalls, there are some positives to this lipstick. It does last a long time and is very pigmented. I haven’t tried this with a lip liner yet, but think this would benefit from one in how the lipstick applies.

I have two other NYX matte lipsticks, but for how streaky Hippie Chic is, I don’t think I would purchase from the matte line again. They are very affordable at $6, but the Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalast matte lipsticks are creamier and less streaky for a third of the price!

Have you tried any NYX matte lipsticks?
