My Morning Skincare Routine

Today I am doing a post I have been meaning to do for a long time: my skincare routine! I take my skin pretty seriously, but try to keep my routine fairly simple. My skin type is fairly normal. Sometimes I am prone to oil in the t-zone area, but I do not have any major concerns. I never get breakouts, so acne if not one of my concerns. Basically, I am committed to aging gracefully with my skincare routine. 🙂

So here’s a little walk through my morning skincare routine, which begins first thing in the morning after I shower. I HAVE to shower in the morning. Without my shower, I am a crazy person. You know how some people need their coffee in the morning? That’s how I am about my shower. Anyway, moving on!

First, I wash my face in the shower with Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean face wash. I love this stuff! My skin feels “squeaky clean”, literally, after I use it. It’s also vegan and cruelty free. I also like Origins Checks and Balances face wash.

Next, I pat my face dry and then wipe it down with Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel. I actually use witch hazel for a lot of things- cleansing my skin at night and toning it in the morning. When my grandmother passed away at 83,  she hardly had any wrinkles, and used olive oil and witch hazel on her skin every day. I’m taking the witch hazel trick from her. 🙂

When the witch hazel has dried and sunk into my skin, I use MAC Fast Response eye cream under and around my eyes. I am really happy with this eye cream and feel that it has improved my skin. I tried using an eye cream from Origins, but I was allergic to it! Now that I found Fast Response, I’m going to stick with it.

After eye cream, I move on to my moisturizer, MAC Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15. I never go without SPF, unless it’s at night and I’ll be getting my picture taken (and I’m not famous so yeah, that rarely happens ;)). This is the perfect consistency. It isn’t too thick, not heavy, and it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing moisturizer. Also, I have seen an improvement in my skin since using this in terms of brightness.

Backtracking to washing my face, I also exfoliate regularly. My favorite products to exfoliate with are Philosophy Microdelivery scrub, Eclos Anti-Aging Instant Radiance facial scrub, and MAC Volcanic Ash. I just ran out of my Philosophy scrub (it’s in my very fast empties video!) and would definitely buy it again, because it is gentle enough to use every day. Eclos is a scrub I discovered through a sample bag from Ulta. I liked it so much that I bought the full size. It is a salt scrub, so if you get it in your mouth it’s very salty, but I love how it makes my skin feel. MAC Volcanic Ash is probably the most famous of the bunch, and it is a permanent product now. I like how this exfoliates, but is moisturizing at the same time. I exfoliate my skin a few times a week.

So that is my current morning skincare routine. I’ll have another post soon with my night routine! Do you use any of these products?

I’ve never thought about using witch hazel for more than spots, thanks for the tip 🙂

My grandmother uses the rose water since she is 20 years old, she is now 81 years old and she has less wrinkle than the others of the same age!!
I too use the fresh rose water (in the fridge for a relieving congestion effect)
Sorry if my English is not very good I am French
