MAC’s Temperature Rising summer collection is out, and it is gorgeous! With luxurious packaging and sultry summer colors, it was quite irresistible to me, especially this nude lipstick: Altered Beige. Nude lipstick is my favorite to wear, even more so than pink. When Altered Beige started being compared to Creme d’ Nude (my HG) on the big beauty blogs, I knew this was in my future!
Honestly, I thought this was going to be extremely similar to Creme d’Nude, but it is quite different. Altered Beige is definitely more pink. I would also say that this is a more wearable nude for most people compared to Creme d’ Nude. The big criticism of CdN seems to be that it washes people out. This is something to be expected with some nude shades, depending on your skin tone; however, Altered Beige seems to have that “just right” quality to it with the wearability factor.
Altered Beige is a lustre, so it is semi-sheer with a wet look, whereas CdN is a cremesheen. That said, it can be built up easily, and without feeling heavy. The staying power is not very long wearing (maybe a few hours); however, this is never a deal breaker for me because I am always drinking something!
Here is Altered Beige compared to some other nudes; it is definitely less opaque than the others and a little lighter. I do not use a lip liner or balm with this lipstick; however, if you want more staying power you can always use a lip liner underneath. I am simply hooked on this color and just find it flattering with my skin tone and complexion.
Altered Beige also comes in special edition packaging, which is a deep bronze shade. The packaging is also that soft, semi-matte finish similar to NARS packaging. I think it’s really beautiful, but because of that packaging, the price is upped to $16.50 compared to the standard $15.
