St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion Review!

I received a deluxe sample of the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body lotion in my last Ipsy bag. I started using it this weekend since I haven’t started my self-tanning routine for summer yet.

Some occasions call for additional glow and what better way to get a night of beautiful bronze than with this formula created by the St. Tropez tanning experts. One Night Only is transfer-resistant and free of typical tanning agents, so you can apply-and-go without hesitation. This super-silky lotion is infused with hydrating, softening oils to make your skin feel as beautiful as it looks and the formula is suitable for all skin tones.

Note that the back of the tube recommends using hands or a body mitt for application. I started out with the body mitt with NO success. The product seeped into the mitt and I got very little on my legs while applying, so that was just a waste of product. I would say this is best applied with hands, but make sure to remove rings first to avoid any streaks.

I liked the results that it gave: the lotion leaves a nice golden hue and it’s not orange. It stayed on my body all day, but washed off in the shower as claimed. Unfortunately, I found it hard to blend to achieve an even consistency. It felt like it was getting stuck on my legs, so I kept having to go over it and over again. The problem with that is making sure the color is even on all parts of the body where applied. When I first applied it, one leg was darker than the other, so I had to go over one leg twice! It just seemed like way too much effort to get an even, glowing tan.

Left: heavy swatch, Right: blended

Although I’ll get use out of this tube from Ipsy, I would not purchase this product again. There are much better tanners out there for the same price, if not less (full size is $18 for 5 ounces).

Have you tried this? What do you think of it?

  1. Eek. I don’t like that it’s hard to blend, that means it’s quite streaky! Thanks for the review. I’ll be sure to avoid this tanner.

Yes, it was hard to get the streaks out! I haven’t tried their long-term self-tanner though. That is supposed to be amazing. 🙂

  2. I use the Jergen’s. I think it does the trick.
