MAC really knocked their summer collections out of the park this year, in my humble opinion. Temperature Rising was full of rich bronze shades, and now we have Tropical Taboo, which is much more colorful! Since Mineralize Skinfinishes are a weakness of mine, I couldn’t help getting the limited edition ones from the collection, including Lust, which is described as a “pale pink with cranberry pearl”. This is the perfect description for Lust ($30).
The texture of Lust is soft and smooth despite it being quite shimmery. I don’t consider this a glitter bomb by any means, but I know there are people out there who will. It does have some noticeable sparkle, but it isn’t over the top if you work it right. The color payoff is good, but not so pigmented that it’s difficult to apply. I actually had to build this up on my skin for it to work as a blush, so I’m thinking that Lust will work as both a blush and highlighter on my light to medium skin tone. Yay!
The sheen of Lust is gorgeous! I have been wearing it as a blush, and when I do, no highlighter is needed, making it a nice multi-tasker. One thing I really like about this product is that it is true to pan when it hits the skin! The effect is ultimately warm toned; however, because it is buildable, I think this would work for very fair skin tones as well. Those with deeper skin tones will also be able to wear this shade, likely as a highlighter (depending on how dark you are, of course).
I’m really happy with Lust and it is pretty different from other colors that I have. What do you think of this shade?
This is still available on MAC’s website, and will also be available from Macy’s, Nordstrom, and other official MAC retailers.
