I think we all know by now that I am a sucker for anything that is PINK! This lippy from Butter London is a limited edition shade called Alcopop, named after a “malt beverage that packs a sugary punch made famous by Girl’s Night Out” according to the folks at BL HQ. I purchased this from Ulta as a duo that came with a matching nail polish. That duo is not available anymore, but you can still find this lippy on their website ($18).
Butter London Lippies are very pigmented and opaque; Alcopop is no exception to that! This is your classic Barbie pink. This is actually described as a liquid lipstick on the website, but the bottom of my tube says lip gloss. Alcopop lasts longer than your average lip gloss, and it is a little thicker. This is a gloss where you don’t want to get caught with your hair down on a windy day, because it is a bit sticky, but not uncomfortable to wear.
Application of this gloss requires some dedication because it is so pigmented. It has a doe foot applicator, which I prefer since it is so easy to work with. Alcopop is a cool-toned pink, but not so cool where someone with a warmer skin tone would have to steer clear. This color is bright, but very wearable.
There’s a slight scent to this product, but it’s not overly synthetic or powerful. It’s a warm, vanilla scent that is not noticeable while wearing. The product is not drying, though I don’t recommend wearing it while drinking since this color needs attention to avoid looking streaky. I also like that this doesn’t settle into lip lines or migrate during wear.
Overall, this is a great shade and I like the long-lasting formula (I get several hours of wear without eating/drinking), but if you don’t like sticky glosses, you may want to get a feel for it with a tester by swatching it on your hand.
Have you tried any of Butter London’s lip products? What do you think of them? I have a few other shades, but really want to try some of the sheerer ones that are coming out, like Pip Pip and Tickety Boo!
