I used to be pretty clueless about fan brushes; then I did a 180 and was on the hunt for the perfect one! For awhile I used the ELF Studio fan brush, which isn’t the worst brush in the world, but the bristles aren’t very soft compared to other brushes in the line. When I saw that EcoTools had a fan brush, I knew I had to get it since I am a huge fan of the line and have most of their brushes.
This multi-functional brush sets face makeup and adds definition by angling the brush to contour your cheekbone. The large, fanned head is also great for use with illuminating powders for an airbrushed finish.
Airbrushed finish? Yes, it’s true! I can’t believe how well this brush performs. I’ve been using it to highlight my cheekbones and apply a dusting of MAC Adored MSF over MAC Royal Sunset blush, and the finished look is as close as I’ll ever be to looking airbrushed. It really works well with mineralize skinfinishes, since it blends out any potential for chunky glitter or sparkle.
I also love the size of this brush. One thing that really bothered me about the ELF brush is that I couldn’t really use it for much else than only applying highlighter. It was not dense at all and I ended up pitching the brush during a beauty purge. The EcoTools fan brush has a great balance of density and flexibility; it is also thick enough to do more than just highlight, which I appreciate.
For $7, this is definitely worth picking up!
