With all of the different BB creams out there, it can be hard to decide which one to try. The shops are literally a SEA of BB creams right now. To make matters worse, there are CC creams, and DD creams have started to make an appearance. Come on now. To make things more complicated, American BB creams are much different than their Korean counterparts from Missha and Etude House.
I’m happy to report that the Hydroxatone BB cream is very similar to the texture and coverage you will find in a Korean brand.
BB Cream acts as an all-in-one product with cosmetic beauty and skincare benefits. This perfecting multi-functional cream can act as a foundation, concealer, sunblock, and moisturizer all at once BB cream was initially formulated and used by dermatologists to help patients who received laser surgery protect, soothe and refine their sensitive skin while also providing them with a light coverage for post-laser scars, acne, and other skin imperfections.
Hydroxatone BB Cream in Medium, MAC BB Cream in Light Plus, Stila BB Cream, Urban Decay BB Cream
The texture of Hydroxatone BB cream is very similar to what you would find in a Korean brand. It is on the thicker side, but very soft and easy to blend. It is also easy to sheer out and blend, and I love how it feels on my skin. It is actually quite soothing. My shade is medium, and it is a tad on the light side; however, it does give a nice brightening effect. It actually reminds me of MAC’s BB cream in that regard. My face looks fresh and even in tone after application.
While the product is not full coverage, it is definitely enough coverage for me; I would consider this medium coverage. I don’t need to wear concealer with this and my complexion looks healthy and fresh. It is also long lasting and doesn’t get patchy or blotchy as the day goes by. When I wash my face at night, the product is still there. Hydroxatone does recommend applying every two hours to refresh the sunscreen, which I did not do.
Wearing Hydroxatone BB Cream; no concealer
Regarding the anti-aging properties, I can’t really vouch for that. While in the short term it does give me a nice and fresh complexion, I don’t think this is going to be a miracle worker in the anti-aging department, since the fine print states “best results combine with Hydroxatone Microdermabrasion one to two times per week.” It also recommends two other steps in the Hydroxatone program that include a cleanser and toner.
This product is $39 and based on what I’ve experienced, it is on par with other high end BB creams. I think this is better than Urban Decay and Stila, and like both of those! Hydroxatone BB cream is available in five shades: Light, Medium, Tan, Deep Tan, and Dark, so the shade range is great compared to other brands that only have one shade or a few shades.
If you’re looking for a high end BB cream, I recommend trying this one if you can! It is definitely one of the better ones I have tried. 🙂
