Fitness Friday: Increasing Distance and Breaking Goals

running

Hey everyone! Time for another Fitness Friday post! Where is this month GOING? This is my fourth weekend in a row packing to go out of town. I’m leaving the hubby behind and visiting my sister. I can’t wait to see her new kitten! I’m also taking one of my dogs with me, Walter. If you follow me on Instagram, he’s my old senior pup and I am his person. πŸ™‚ Anyway, I’m not squeezing in a run before I leave, but maybe my sis and I will go later; who knows?

This week was pretty decent. I am really proud of myself for sticking with it! Plus, this week I accomplish my goal of running 20 miles in August! I’m excited to see just how far I will make it through the end of the month. Maybe I will even break 30!

This week I also increased the distance on my runs and am trying to go between 1.5 and 2 miles each time. Unfortunately, I did get injured on Tuesday. Mail truck + strange dog + my border collie = me twisting my ankle and ending up in near tears. Luckily, it was not as bad as it could have been.

runI definitely need to invest in a new pair of running shoes. I think I’m going to seek out an actual running shoe store and do some research beforehand. My feet are SO FLAT. Annoyingly flat. So flat that I just don’t have the stability I want. My ankles are really holding me back, so I need to strengthen them and get better shoes.

I’m excited that it has almost been a month since I started running. I find myself thinking about it when I’m not doing it, wondering how far I will go, where I will run, or when I’ll start getting better. There are days where it is more of a struggle, but as a whole it has been a very positive experience so far.
