Oh, Josie Maran…why are your products always so tempting? I couldn’t resist picking up a sample of the Argan Matchmaker Serum foundation ($42), and now I am sad to say that I am truly in love with it and need a bottle! This foundation comes in three shades:
- Fair/Light for fairest porcelain skin with pink undertones to light skin with pink undertones
- Light/Medium for lightest fair skin with yellow to olive undertones to medium skin with yellow to olive undertones
- Medium/Dark for medium tan skin all the way to the deepest skin tones
A serum foundation formulated with chameleon pigments, an innovative color-match technology that goes on white and instantly adjusts to match your unique and changing natural skintone as it balances and nourishes the skin.
As you can see, the foundation is white, and then the pigments blend to adjust to your skin tone. I think with a foundation like this one, it is easy to go overboard when applying because you don’t see color right away. If you apply too much, it will end up being the wrong shade and likely be too dark or too orange for your skin tone. The color will show up while you are blending into your skin, but you may not notice right away because it adjusts so nicely; at least that was my experience!
I used the Sonia Kashuk stippling brush to apply. Since the consistency is thin, it seems like a Beauty Blender would soak up too much product. One huge perk I see with this foundation is that if you got a bit of a tan, it would just adjust to that shade providing the skin change was subtle.
The coverage is sheer to medium, depending on what you’re looking to cover up. Those wanting full coverage will probably want to skip this one. I love the texture of this. It is SO soft and comfortable. I also love how it makes my skin look. It is so natural looking and doesn’t look like I’m wearing a mask. Who wants that?
I also found this foundation to be fairly long lasting for a full day, and it has been SUPER humid here. I haven’t worn it with a primer yet, but do have enough for one more wear in my little sample tub! The finish leaves a nice soft focus effect as well. One thing I did notice is that like MAC Face and Body foundation, it takes a little while to fully dry.
For me, this is a win! Have you tried it?
