August 2013 Birchbox

Yes, it’s true: I signed back up for Birchbox again this month to see if they have improved since I last subscribed. Also, Birchbox has an amazing points system that can’t be beat, so I’ll give them a second chance. I’m pretty happy with what I received in this box, but Ipsy is still the winner for me. Here’s what I received:

Amika Obliphica Oil Treatment: This is a foil packet so I will probably use this right away to make sure it doesn’t get lost in my giant basket of foil packets! It has really good reviews on the Birchbox website, so I’m curious to see how it performs.

Coola SPF Sport Sunscreen in Mango– Sunscreen is always useful, and I do like this brand, so no complaints here! I think I will be able to get use out of this when I run in the morning. I always wash my face before I go, which means I don’t have sunscreen on!

Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish– The good: this is hot pink and I’ve never tried the brand. The bad: it changes into purple. We’ll see how I like it.

TheBalm Instain Blush in Swiss Dot– LOVE this color! I’m looking forward to trying this after hearing rave reviews. It’s small but so cute!

UniqONE All in One Hair Treatment– This is a leave-in treatment. I like sizes like this for traveling, so hopefully I like it!

Like Ipsy, Birchbox is $10 per month and you can cancel any time. Birchbox also has a points system where you can write reviews/take surveys and earn points, which you can ultimately use in their shop. This is one of the most redeeming qualities of Birchbox in my opinion.

Do you subscribe to Birchbox, or have you in the past?

  1. Though I love their points system, I stopped my subscription. I find ipsy to be a better value and this month’s GlossBox has two very good full size products.

I recently signed up for Ipsy! September is going to be my first box! The blush looks interesting!
