I have been on a single eyeshadow kick lately. Surprisingly, I really like the quality of these ELF baked shadows. I can’t even tell you how many times I have picked up Bark (on the left) only to put it back, assuming they were terrible. Finally, I let curiosity get the best of me and I spent a whopping three bucks on Bark. Needless to say, I went running back later for Toasted.
I don’t usually like baked shadows, but I am really happy with the quality and pigmentation of these. Bark is my favorite of the two. It is seriously GORGEOUS! The pigmentation is so rich, and it pops on the lid over primer. I also like layering it with other brown shades. Bark is a deep brown shade. I applied this with MAC Damson pressed pigment and LOVED the result. I keep experimenting with it and just love the richness it gives to any look.
Toasted is a shimmering rose gold shade. It is also very pigmented and smooth, just like Bark. I like toasted, but Bark is the big winner of the two. The swatches above are dry, and just one swipe, so you can see how pigmented they are. These shadows can also be used wet, which makes them even more intense.
As part of the ELF Studio line, these are $3 each and can be found at some retail locations, like Target and Meijer (Midwest retail chain). If you can’t find them in person, you can also order them on ELF’s website. I hope that they come out with more shades, perhaps some brighter ones that aren’t neutrals!
Have you tried ELF’s baked shadows? What do you think?
