TheBalm Instain Blush in Swiss Dot Review + Swatches

TheBalm caused quite a stir with the release of their long-wearing, powder staining blushes. I received Swiss Dot in the August Birchbox. It’s SO cute because it is so tiny! Despite the small size, it is easy to get out of the pan using a makeup brush (I questioned this at first).

Each of the Instain blushes are named after a different type of print, which I think is cute. I like this packaging better than other packaging from TheBalm. To be honest, I do find the packaging of their products gimmicky and at times even tacky. At the same time, I recognize that they are branding themselves and I do like their makeup overall.

Swiss Dot is a peach blush; I actually found it quite orange looking when applied to my cheeks! It does stain quickly, so when you’re blending, I recommend working quickly and use a light hand. This blush is very pigmented! Swiss Dot has a matte finish with no shimmer or sparkle. The texture is lovely; very silky.

As for the staying power, for me it isn’t superior in how long it lasts, at least not compared to the “long lasting” claims. For example, these aren’t as long lasting on me as Tarte’s blushes are (which live up to their 12-hour claim). I do like how this blush fades though; it isn’t patchy at all! I would put this in the “average” category for staying power.

Though I like the color enough, I wouldn’t purchase the full size of Swiss Dot simply because I have other peach colors that I like more. That said, I did purchase the full size blush in the shade Toile, which is a strawberry color.

Have you tried these blushes before? What do you think of Swiss Dot?
