ELF Eyebrow Lifter & Filler Review

ELF2

The ELF Eyebrow Lifter & Filler ($3) is a double-ended eye pencil from the ELF Studio line. It is available in three shades: light, medium, and dark. All three shades come with an ivory shade on the other side.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Create polished and defined brows for a flawless fuller look! The ‘lift’ pencil’s sheer light-reflecting pigments act as an arch support under the brows to enhance and outline the shape for a more youthful and awakened look. While the ‘fill’ pencil shades in the eyebrow to blend in the natural shape, fill in any sparse areas and define the lines.

Right off the bat, I love how this pencil has a sharpener built in. That is seriously handy and appreciated.

As for the pencil itself, let’s break it down by the “Fill” side and the “Lift” side.

I purchased this pencil in the shade “Dark”. On the website, the medium pencil seemed a bit red. The color of this pencil is workable, but not the best. Personally, I like something a little cooler in tone. The texture of the pencil is difficult to work with. It is way too creamy and heavy for a brow product. I’ve found that the best brow products are more dry and stiff. Even with a light hand, this is just too much. When on, the product smudges easily.

The “Lift” side is also very creamy, and the color is versatile as it is a a lovely, brightening nude. If you want a nude pencil, it is worth the affordable price of this just for the one side, as it reminds me of Benefit Eye Bright (but not the same shade). This is easy to blend into the skin; it is easier with a brush rather than the fingers. You can just draw the product on, but alone the line is too harsh. Blending is necessary!

Though the colors aren’t the same, the textures are similar. Be careful to not apply too much of either side of the pencil though, because you don’t need much! The lifter side of the pencil may also work in the waterline with a light hand.

Here are some swatch comparisons: ELF Eyebrow Lifter & Filler- Dark, Ivory; Tarte Inner Rim Brigthener, MAC Chromaline pencil in NC15/NW20, Benefit Eye Bright pencil.

I won’t be purchasing this product again, but I do like the lifter side. The brow side is just too thick for my personal tastes.

Have you tried this pencil?

I might buy this. Did you find the color at all yellowy? Because the problem I have with a lot of the dark eyebrow pencil shades is that because I am so fair the yellow or red tones just seem to really pop out. My hair is a natural medium-dark brown, no highlights that are particularly golden or red. A bit darker than yours if that is your natural shade.

No, I didn’t find it yellowy. My hair color now is a bit warmer and lighter than my natural shade; my lashes and brows are very cool-toned so I prefer dark, ashier colors. I am going to try using this with an angled brush to see if dabbing it on helps!

I’ve placed my order on the elf website last week and I wanted to get this one. However, I didn’t have enough money on my PayPal to add this one, so I had to post pone the purchase of it! 😉 I’m not sure about the color when picking eyebrow stuff. :/
