Before trying Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam, I’ve never tried a Rimmel mascara. To be honest, I haven’t had much luck with this brand; however, I am pleased with some of their newer products in the eye range. I was sent this mascara in the Rose VoxBox and eager to test it out.
I love the packaging to this mascara. The white and black is very bold and it has a fat handle, which makes it easy to get a grip on and apply.
The wand is hourglass shaped with dense bristles, similar to what has been popular lately due to CoverGirl Flamed Out and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. This is a new mascara, though I’m not sure Rimmel is intentionally riding on their coattails. 😉
The formula of the mascara is on the dry side. It don’t find it very buildable; with the second coat, my lashes tend to clump together, and because of the way this brush is designed, it isn’t possible to comb them out with it (though a lash comb should work). If you’re one who tends to “work” with your mascara a lot, this would probably be frustrating.
Although the results weren’t particularly stunning in my opinion, this mascara does have some perks. First, it doesn’t smudge or flake and is very long wearing. It doesn’t transfer, and it dries on the lashes quickly. Although it doesn’t give my lashes the “WOW” factor, it is a decent mascara for daily wear.
