Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

gel2It’s time for Day 6 in the seven days of skincare reviews!

This yellow bottle is one of those cult classic beauty products that has been popular for years. Recently, Clinique reformulated this classic. I was in the market for a new moisturizer, and decided to pick this up. Every time I use it, I think of my mom. She used to use it faithfully, so the scent reminds me of her, and I can’t help but smile! The reason I switched to this lotion is because I was using a MAC moisturizer that I LOVE, but I go through it really quickly and wanted something more cost effective.

For $26, you get four ounces, and you don’t need much with this. Just a couple of small pumps and I can moisturize my entire face. I’ve barely put a dent in this bottle after using it for two months, whereas previously I went through 1.7 ounces of MAC Studio Moisture Fix in about three to four months (and it’s $32).

The world has changed since Clinique first debuted Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, and it’s had an impact on our skin. That’s why Clinique created a dramatically different version. This formula features all the same benefits as the original—plus more. Step 3 in Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care System, this moisture “drink” developed by Clinique’s dermatologists maintains optimal moisture balance for very dry skin or comfortable to oily skin in the T-zone. With a new complex yet same silky texture and quick penetration, this lightweight formula strengthens skin’s own moisture barrier by 54 percent and locks in essential moisture. It delivers twice the hydration all day, leaving skin silky-soft, springy, and absolutely radiant.

This particular formulation is for very dry to combination skin. Clinique recommends using the gel version of this for oily skin.

The only thing I don’t like about this moisturizer is that it doesn’t have SPF in it, so I just make sure to wear a foundation with SPF in it on that day. I like the texture and I love how it sinks into my skin. It isn’t heavy and doesn’t make me feel oily throughout the day. I can’t stand moisturizers that are too heavy and thick! It smells good too, but the scent isn’t overwhelming and it doesn’t linger.

A lot of people don’t like the new formulation of this moisturizer. I wasn’t super familiar with the old one, so I can’t vouch for which one is better, but I have had a positive experience with this one, and it is a cost effective option as well.

I’ve used this lotion for years and I can’t say that I’ve noticed a huge difference with the new formula. I think the new one is absorbed more easily into the skin, but the lotion is still very similar to the original in my opinion. I still love it!

I used the gel version of this for a while, but I agree, it’s a bit off-putting that it doesn’t have SPF in it. I’m just using up what I have at night now so I don’t have to worry about that.
