I have been positively drooling over NARS lip pencils lately. In an effort to curb my craving, I’ve been reaching for this velvety matte lip pencil from Sonia Kashuk in the shade Pinky Nude, which is exactly what it sounds like. 🙂 These pencils are available in six shades, all of them pretty standard colors like pink, nude, plum, and berry.
I really like the texture of this pencil. It is very thin and lightweight, so if you don’t want a heavy feeling lippie, this is a great choice. On the other hand, it is matte, so it does have the potential to be drying. I didn’t find it overly drying, and applying a balm first takes care of this issue for me. I also love layering this shade with gloss, whether it is clear, pink, peach, or anything else in those color families.
This lip pencil is fairly long lasting. Even with drinking and eating, I can get around three hours of wear before touching up.
I love this pencil, so my only complaint is that it doesn’t come in a bigger array of colors. I would love to see this in hot pink or a bright coral, and think they would fly off the shelves, because there’s nothing like that at drugstore prices.
These pencils retail for $7.59 (weird price) and Sonia Kashuk is a cruelty-free brand. If you’ve been looking at more expensive pencils but don’t want to shell out a lot of cash, this has great staying power at an affordable price.
