I’ve heard so many great things about the Marc Jacobs beauty line. I haven’t purchased anything (yet), but I did pick up this sample of the Genius Gel Super-Charged foundation after hearing rave reviews! The shade I picked is 26 Bisque Medium. There are sixteen shades in the range, but most of them seem to be in the medium range; there aren’t many options for super dark or super light skin tones.
Erase the past, perfect the present, and protect the future. Formulated with lifestyle ingredients and Buoyancy Gel™ technology, Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation creates a weightless, natural veil that never settles into fine lines. An infusion of Soft Focus Powder reflects light to minimize imperfections, while revitalizing multi-vitamins provide supreme hydration for even application and luxurious wear.
Right off the bat, I have say that the texture of this foundation is amazing. It is so silky and just a pleasure to blend. It is very comfortable and lightweight to wear, so if you’re in the camp of people who hates the heavy feeling of foundation on your skin, you may want to try a sample.
MJ Medium Bisque, NARS Santa Fe, Laura Mercier Luminous Silk Creme foundation in Medium Ivory, MAC Matchmaster 2.0, L’Orea Lumi N3
The shade match for Medium Bisque was quite good; it is very similar to NARS Sheer Glow in Santa Fe.
While there are so many great things about this foundation, I don’t see it being my new favorite, and I won’t be purchasing the full size in the future. It didn’t oxidize and I didn’t have any bad reactions with my skin, but I hate how this foundation looks when it starts to wear away. It doesn’t wear away very well in that I looked extremely patchy and it even emphasized my pores. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my pores looking so large! It lasted about five hours before it started to fade.
Wearing the foundation- mid-day
The finish is luminous, but not full-on dewy. I do love how this looks with the initial application, but with the short staying power and how it fades, this one is a pass for me! What do you think? Have you tried it?
