I’ve been working on finishing some sample sizes of primers that I have, and thought it would be fun to review a couple that I really like: Make Up For Ever HD Primer, and Hourglass Mineral Veil primer.
MUFE HD Primer is different than the typical silicone based primer, and feels more like a light lotion. It isn’t greasy, and comes in six shades; I have the clear shade in 0.
HD Microperfecting Primer deeply nourishes, moisturizes, and softens the skin, creating a glowing effect. Creates a protective layer on the skin allowing foundation to glide on easily and last longer.
This does blur my pores nicely, it doesn’t have a harsh smell, and it does make my foundation glide onto my skin. As it dries, the finish almost seems matte on my skin. It helps my foundation last longer, but I like it best for creating a more even canvas. I like it, but I’m not crazy about it.
Now for the Hourglass Mineral Veil…the most amazing primer I’ve ever used. This is actually my second sample, so I’ve been rationing this one out! This is HG status for me. I love this primer and have nothing but good things to say about it!
This clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading. Veil Mineral Primer also absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften skin imperfections and fine lines.
Yes, it does all of that. I love how my skin looks with just this primer on. It blurs pores, brightens, and just makes everything look smooth. The texture must be felt in person! This primer is so soft and luxurious; it makes every foundation I have go on better and look better for longer. Unfortunately, this is VERY expensive. At Sephora, one ounce is $52, two ounces is $72, and .33 ounces is $18. That said, I think this is one primer that is worth the high price tag. I love everything about it. I highly recommend getting a sample if you can!
Have you tried either of these primers? What are your thoughts on them?
