NYC Part I: My Travel Makeup Bag

image

Hello! WOW, I had so much fun last week. I’ve mentioned a couple times that I started a new job in January. Things are going really well and I traveled to NYC last week to meet some people, get some training, and work, of course! I was there from Sunday until Thursday, and had a blast. I mostly did work things, but was able to at least go to Sephora. 😀 More on that later…for now, I’m going to share what I packed in my makeup bag. Sorry for the awful photo, but it was taken with my phone in dim hotel lighting.

Here’s what I brought with me:

Mini Josie Maran cleansing oil
Five sample face wash packets
12 Benefits healthy hair treatment
Clean shampoo and conditioner, travel size
Mini Josie Maran Argan Oil Light
Mini Urban Decay De-Slick spray
Deluxe sample of Urban Decay anti-aging primer potion
Decanted MAC Turquatic perfume in Travolo bottle
One packet of Butter London Scrubbers nail polish remover
OPI Mini in What’s a Little Rain Forest?
Two Sephora body wash pods
Luna mini (not pictured)

Makeup items

NARS 9947 palette
NARS eyeshadow singles in Yamal and Cairo
NARS Laguna mini
MAC eyeshadow singles in Bare Minimum and Sex & The Oyster
Sephora Outrageous Prisma Chrome shadow in Metallic Beige
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Estee Lauder Double-Wear sample
Laura Mercier Luminous Silk Creme foundation (in a small pot)
NARS Doucer blush
Too Faced Primed and Poreless powder
Mini Benefit They’re Real mascara
Jane water resistant eyeliner in brown
MAC Subculture lip liner
Maybelline Dream Matte powder
Laura Mercier Spellbound highlighter
MAC Creme d’ Nude lipstick
MAC Altered Beige lipstick
NARS Descanso lip pencil
Anastasia brow powder in Dark Brown
Benefit Gimmie Brow

Looking at this list, it looks like SO.MUCH.STUFF. I did use all of it though, and the two lipsticks I just kept in my purse. Everything was very small and compact, and I packed it in my Sonia Kashuk bag that I reviewed awhile back.

I also brought a beauty blender, pencil sharpener, and a MAC canister to hold a few brushes. I brought the MAC 217, MAC 239, EcoTools concealer brush, Sigma F25 highlighter brush, MAC Oval 6 brush, and the spoolie/brow brush from It Cosmetics. I also packed the Becca The One brush.

I also wanted to share my very comfortable but cute traveling outfit. I wore this on the day in and the day I left. Since I packed light and had to make room for my running clothes, I decided to bring a few things and mix and match. I wore dresses to work, but traveled in these gray leggings; they’re kind of like riding leggings since they have structure, but are also flexible. They’re gray, and I just wore my black Hunter boots the entire week so I didn’t have to pack another pair of shoes (I brought my running shoes too, so no room). Then I just wore a striped top, red sweater, and a black scarf.

I was really happy with how my clothing situation worked out. I didn’t check any luggage so I had a small suitcase with me. I brought two dresses, two sweaters, three scarves (including the one I had on), and some jewelry. Since I was there Sunday until Thursday, I just wore the black dress I packed twice. Because of this, I had room for my running clothes and squeezed in a three mile run on Monday.

How do you pack for travel? Do you bring more? Less?
