Revlon Sultry Samba is Disappointing…

samba2The Revlon Gucci Westman summer collection is popping up on shelves, and of course I couldn’t pass up this hot pink lipstick, Sultry Samba. I thought it might be a MAC dupe of sorts (for Candy Yum Yum or Embrace Me), but instead, I was quite disappointed in this lipstick!

Sultry Samba’s formula is really difficult to work with. I have other Revlon mattes that I use just fine, but this one is really stiff, patchy, and difficult to apply. It clings to every remotely dry patch on my lips (okay, it’s matte, so that is expected), but even swatching it this lipstick gets “stuck” and drags, resulting in patchy application. I wasn’t even able to get this to apply smoothly with a balm underneath.

Sultry Samba is also not that pigmented and I would even go so far to say that it’s sheer! I had to really layer it to make it look even. This is the MOST disappointing part for me. A beautiful pink deserves to be pigmented!

While the color is gorgeous, Sultry Samba is just not for me. That said, I may have gotten a bad tube or a dud. If you want a hot pink lipstick at drugstore prices, I highly recommend the Maybelline Vivids line, or Milani’s lipsticks.

😦 That sucks. It looked so promising. I guess they can’t all be fantastic or else we wouldn’t have anything to post about! Haha
