It seems like yesterday that I woke up and decided to start running. I recently read that post and can’t believe how far I have come in this running journey. On April 13th (my birthday!), I’ll be running my first half-marathon, and I’m ready for it. I’m ready! Yay!
March was a month of difficulties. I went to NYC for work, injured my foot, went to Montreal- all of these things contributed small hurdles when prepping for long runs. Montreal was actually a blessing in disguise. I had a change to just walk and take a week off from running, which really helped my foot heal. Finally, this past Wednesday I went on my last long run before the big day, and I feel ready. I ran 11 miles, so I know I can finish this half-marathon.
The 11-miler went fairly well. I didn’t start to really feel fatigued until mile 10. I wanted to go 12, but I was having some major issues with blisters. My feet were BURNING. I decided to stop at 11 instead of making the blisters worse. I’m hoping it was just the socks I had on and not the insoles I have. I’m running a 5K race on Sunday, so I’m going to wear different socks and see how it goes.
There are so many emotions I have about running that far. I can’t believe this is me. I never thought I would be this person! Starting to run is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
Wish me luck in the big race! 😀 Hopefully I feel as good as I did this week!
