The Balm’s How ‘Bout Them Apples? ($32) is a cream lip and cheek palette with six different shades named after apples of course! Typically, I don’t care for The Balm’s style (I like something more sleek), but hey, they have done a good job branding themselves. Even I have to admit the summery picnic theme here is pretty cute.
“How ‘Bout Them Apples?” is a multi-functioning lip and cheek cream palette. Each freshly picked color is formulated to have a smooth finish that won’t streak or fade, so there are no bad apples in this bunch!
I thought these guys were cartoons, but they are actually real models. How cheesecake! 🙂 I’ll tell you my favorite “guys” (aka shade) later in this post. 😉
The textures of the blushes in this palette are very thin. They don’t feel heavy on the skin, but I don’t like them as lippies because they are drying to me.
I seemed to have the most trouble with Cider. It is the least pigmented and doesn’t show up on me very well once it is blended out; that is the same problem I had with one of Revlon’s cream blushes (Flushed, I think). That said, most of these blushes do build nicely and can be worn sheer, or as vibrant as you like.
These are creams- They do NOT set into powders, so they are dewy. I love cream blushes this year, so I like that aspect of these. Plus, if you really want to set them with powder, you can always top with another blush.
The longevity of these blushes, at least on me, is average. I start seeing fading around five hours, which isn’t bad, especially for a cream blush.
My favorite “apples” are Candy and Cider. 🙂
This is a great palette for the price, and it is excellent for travel since it is so slim! It also has a huge mirror in it, which is always appreciated.
Well done, TheBalm!
