Kat Von D Esperanza Palette Swatches & Review

KVD3

I realize this review is a bit late since this palette is no longer on Sephora’s website, but you can probably find it still in stores. I went back and forth on deciding to get this, and eventually I picked it up while in NYC. This palette contains eight colorful shades including one “transformer” shade.

This photo is a bit washed out from the sunlight. There are three matte shades, and the rest are shimmery. Archangel, South, and Placebo are the matte colors.

There’s a little variety in lighting here, but the color shades are accurate.

As for my review, the colors here are gorgeous and I especially love the transformer shade (Dayglo). This is something I wish would be sold as a single in the Kat Von D line, because it is so pretty and unique. It is kind of a “glow-in-the-dark” type of color, and it works beautifully alone as a highlight. The sheen it provides is very unique; it’s a bit minty.

The matte shadows are very smooth and pigmented. My issue lies with the shimmery shades, especially Dog Roses. This palette has quite a bit of fallout and IS powdery.

Because of the powdery texture, it is tricky to pack on a lot of product. These blend very easily- almost too easily, like TheBalm’s shadows tend to do.

My favorite colors in this palette are: Dayglo, Archangel, and Placebo.

One thing I really like about this palette is that it is more versatile than it looks. If you want to go for a natural eye, it’s possible, but you can also go smoky or just plain FUN and colorful with it.

Do you have this palette? What do you think of it?

The pan is a bit small but I wonder if you could use placebo as a blush. It’s a beautiful colour!
    Great post!
