Dior Capture Totale DreamSkin ($110) makes a lot of promises and has a high price tag, but it seems to be loved by Sephora reviewers, with 4.5 stars out of 5 on the website. I actually had no idea what this was when I used it. I decided to just read the description, apply it, and read about it later to get some first impressions. There was enough in the sample for a couple of uses.
DreamSkin is the key to beautiful skintone and texture, instantly and over time. Perfect for all ages and skin types, this powerful product produces youthful-looking skin while increasing radiance and firmness. Dior’s exclusive bio-mimetic powder complex reduces dark spots and redness, and minimizes pores. Day after day, skin is continuously perfected with the help of plant extracts from the exclusive Dior Gardens.
Not having a clue about the claims when applying, I decided to observe what I noticed. The fluid is slightly sticky and seems matte, not something I associate with hydration, but it wasn’t drying either. It also wasn’t difficult to blend. It is an almond pink color.
After application, my pores seemed blurred, but I didn’t see any obvious brightening. I would have no problem going out wearing just DreamSkin and that’s it. It didn’t notice any particular scent to it while applying.
It does work fantastically as a primer for creating a smooth, even canvas for makeup application, and blocks foundation from settling into pores. That said, I don’t think this is a must have for me, since I don’t have skin issues. I am curious if I would see a difference after weeks of use, but definitely not enough to purchase it (a $110 curiosity? No.).
What do you think of Dior’s skincare line? Have you tried it? Do you like it?
