Ah, another nude palette! The Becca Ombre Nudes palette ($40) is a collection of five matte, cool-toned, brown-toned shadows. It is housed in a sleek brown palette with a nice mirror inside of it. I find the packaging very classy and chic. While I love Urban Decay’s artistic flair, I tend to prefer packaging for brands like NARS and MAC that are more simple. Anyway, enough about the packaging! 🙂
What I like about this palette is that the shades are different from each other; that may sound silly, but at times I feel like there isn’t much difference in some shades in the Urban Decay Basics palette. The Ombre Nudes definitely has distinct colors, and this is true on the lid as well.
The texture of the shadows reminds me of NARS matte shadows. They’re on the stiff side, but blend beautifully. They are pigmented, but have room to build, which is a great quality to have to avoid going overboard with shadow; I especially appreciate this when creating a smoky eye. This palette makes an amazing smoky eye. Does anyone else prefer brown smoky eyes to black? I find myself always reaching for brown shadows over black! 🙂
When this palette arrived in the mail, I could not WAIT to use it. I was out of town once again last weekend and only brought this with me in terms of eyeshadow. They stayed all day long with primer and did not fade at all, even after a near 12-hour day of being outside at the beach. These brown shades are more gray in tone compared to a warm reddish brown. I can’t wait to play with this more and mix it with other shades that aren’t matte. 🙂
