Lately I’ve been in the mood for testing out new foundations. I received a sample of Laura Mercier’s new foundation, Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide ($48), with a Sephora order. The shade is Ecru, described as “light with cool undertones.” There are 24 shades in the line, so there’s a little something for just about everyone.
Laura Mercier’s lightweight foundation leaves skin with a natural-looking matte finish. It works on all skin types, visibly evening skintone and minimizing the appearance of pores. Infused with Hydro-Brilliant Technology, featuring reflective waters and natural silica that create brilliant color-true shades, it is humidity-proof, sweat-proof, and water-resistant for longer, carefree wear.
This foundation truly looks like skin, even more so than Urban Decay’s Naked Skin foundation. This foundation works by “activating” the formula through shaking it, so if you test it, make sure that you give it a good shake first! The consistency is very runny and watery. I just applied a little at a time to my fingertips and then dotted it on my face, and used the Cargo magic brush to blend.
The coverage is very light, but buildable. I found that it simply made my skin appear more radiant. The finish states that it is matte, but I thought it was more satin than matte. Without a primer, I didn’t have any problems with it settling into my pores or fading away. I actually was quite surprised at how long-lasting it was.
This foundation does blur my pores, and that’s probably my favorite thing about it. I also like that it doesn’t feel heavy, or look like I have makeup caked on. It is SO easy to blend, too! I don’t think it is immediately HG material, but so far I like it. I would also like to look at some other shades, especially Cashew, which is light with neutral undertones.
These supremely runny foundations seem to be the thing right now, and I’ve definitely had good luck with the ones I have tried.
Have you tried this yet? What do you think of it?
