In a fit of feeling sorry for myself (just a bad week…we all have them!), I purchased a few beauty items I’ve been wanting for quite some time, including a NARS Dual Intensity eyeshadow in the shade Himalia, which is described as “shimmering topaz”. If you like taupe colors, this is definitely in that category.
When I first went to see these in Sephora, the testers were so destroyed that I couldn’t get a very good idea of the actual texture. They seemed clumpy in the store and not pigmented. That is not the case when you get one that isn’t a destroyed store sample! 🙂 They remind me of MAC loose pigments in how they apply, only pressed and smoother in texture.
This pattern doesn’t stay too long- I found that with a few uses, it starts to fade. Not that I care about that, but if you love the design, it goes away quickly!
These shadows can be used wet or dry. As you can see from the swatch, they are more intense when used wet. I just spray Fix+ on the brush, but used water for my swatch and it seems even more intense when using that. It did not fade during wear with a good primer. I always use primer, so I’m not sure how it wears without it.
Although I love this color and like the formula of the shadow, I’m unsure if I will purchase more. I think there are many beautiful shades, but many of them seem similar to each other, particularly the colors that I am drawn to, so it doesn’t seem necessary to get more of them for that reason.
Another thing to note about these shadows is that they are expensive: $29 a piece. At that price point, I would rather get something from Burberry, but that’s just my opinion. 🙂
Have you tried these? I love this color and think I picked out the perfect shade for me that I will get use from, but like I said, I’m unsure of if I’ll get more. Any color recommendations that are must haves?
