Six Powder Highlighters for the Holidays!

HL1

One of my favorite things about holiday makeup is completely loading up on highlighter. Who am I kidding? I’ll do this all year round, but for the holidays it is all about sparkle! I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorites that are not limited edition items.

HL2

Tarte Amazonian Clay Shimmering Powder in Champagne: This is a golden beige, finely milled highlighter that is very subtle. If you’re scared of highlighters, this is a good one to start with. This is often included in Tarte sets.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone: This is more of a yellow gold highlighter and it is just as gorgeous as everyone says it is. The sheen is light, but it is easily built up. This does not have glitter.

MAC Soft and Gentle: This is a gorgeous neutral peachy beige highlighter. You can achieve disco ball status with this one, or you can keep it simple and blend it out for something more subtle, which makes this versatile for a highlighter.

HL3Afterglow, Soft and Gentle, Moonstone, Kitten, Champagne, Mary Lou

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer– What is a highlighter post without the most powerful, sparkly highlighter that exists? If you want a highlight that says “BAM, I entered the room”, you’ll want to get this one. This is SO intense. It actually took me awhile to see the appeal in this highlight. I ended up falling in love with it over the summer. This is described as being “honey-hued”. I do find that on my skin it looks cooler toned.

Stila Kitten– You can probably tell by the photo that this is well-loved by me, as the stars are all worn off. I bought this from Ulta last year as part of a gift set. This is a nude, pink-toned highlight that leans peach on me. I love this one and it is my favorite out of the ones mentioned here.

Makeup Geek Afterglow Pigment– This is the most affordable highlighter of the bunch ($7) and it’s just gorgeous. This is a glittering champagne pigment. Since it’s loose, it’s kind of messy, but MUG now has sifters you can get for the tops of the jars which is very helpful.

What are your favorite highlights? Let me know if you want to see a cream/liquid post of the same topic! 🙂

Moonstone looks gorgeous! Not so typical as others. I owned E.l.f. highlighter (actually baked blush in pinktastic) and it looked exactly like soft&gentle. But around a week ago I got Mary-Lou as a present and it’s very beautiful! I gave away e.l.f… it’s good shade and works on skin very well but I didn’t know why I need two golden highlighters:D I’m bad blogger… too minimalistic with highlighters. I like Mary and would try Cindy highlighter from Thebalm even I think highlighter is useless pretty thing:D If you use foundation with natural or dewy-glowy finish, skin will reflect light at the same areas and will look highlighted but if you prefer 100% matte..then yeah, it can add some life:) Anyway you can always use highlighter as eyeshadow.

I want to try Cindy but haven’t yet! 🙂 Gosh..I have a serious highlighter addiction and the differences are so subtle. They are just so pretty I can’t help myself! 🙂 I usually mix it up with matte and natural foundations. I love matte this time of year, but even when I wear natural or dewy foundations I still keep reaching for the highlighters! 😀
