I don’t usually go for holiday palettes and sets, but this one from NARS was calling my name with that sweet Roman Holiday color, a lipstick described as “sheer delicate pastel pink”. I looked up swatches beforehand, and it leans cool with some purple undertones. While the lipstick is a regular in the NARS line, the Roman Holiday nail polish and mini-blush are limited edition items.
This set is housed in an acrylic box adorned with “architectural designer Chris Kabatsi’s digitally-rendered Nebula print.” The box is really beautiful and unique. I am going to see if I can store my running headbands in it (I have a lot of headbands…not sure if they will fit!).
The box does take up a lot of space compared to the products inside, but the box is sturdy enough to re-use, so I don’t have any issues with the wasted space in this instance. Something I adore about NARS is how practical their packaging usually is.
As for the products themselves, they are fantastic! Look at that color! This is a vibrant pink that will look great on many skin tones. The lipstick and nail polish are both full-size; the blush is about the size of a NARS eyeshadow.
I did some comparing with other blushes in the NARS line and Well-Dressed by MAC. As you can see, Roman Holiday is somewhere in between Desire and Gaiety. Although it looks very bright in the pan, I found that it was very flattering on my skin and warmed up when applied to my face. It definitely gives that “healthy glow.” The quality of this blush is just like my other blushes in the NARS line.
I really love the lipstick. 🙂 It is exactly how the description reads. I like this formula and prefer it over the NARS Audacious lipstick line; for me, it’s just easier to wear.
In typical NARS fashion this kit is pretty expensive- $49. One reason I don’t usually get the giant “bang for your buck” sets during the holidays is that the quality is often sacrificed. This kit doesn’t have that problem at all!
Bottom line- If you love NARS and love this color, you won’t regret the Modern Future kit. I know I will get a lot of use out of all three items.
