A few months ago, I finally got my hands on a sample of the Make Up For Ever HD foundation. The gal at Sephora matched me to the shade 130 Warm Ivory, “medium light skin with beige pink undertones“. This proved to be a great match for me. I ended up falling in love with my sample and decided to pick it up during the VIB sale.
What’s not to love about this foundation??? It’s long-lasting, isn’t heavy, is comfortable to wear, and looks natural. It isn’t cakey at all, and it’s easy to apply. It actually reminds me of NARS Sheer Glow quite a bit, but less watery.
This is a medium coverage foundation, but it very easy to work with the kind of coverage you want to achieve here. It is very easy to sheer out or build upon; the formula makes it quite effortless. I’ve found that some foundations have a “learning curve” when it comes to achieving the best finish, but this one is truly effortless in that regard.
The staying power is amazing as well. I’ve worn this on some really long days with some intense activity. For example, one day I went for a run to get it in before the sun went down, and right when I got home my husband texted me and asked me to meet him for dinner. Having no time to shower, I simply freshened up a bit and found that my foundation was still perfectly fine after running. I sweat a lot when I am running, so I was shocked to see that it still looked decent. I don’t usually work out in my makeup, but I already had it on and didn’t bother removing it before going for a run.
I like this foundation even more than Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+. It is a little more expensive ($42), but worth every penny! My only regret is that I didn’t try this sooner. This is definitely one of my favorite foundations now. Have you tried it? 🙂
