Make Up For Ever 222 Sponge Applicator Review

The Make Up For Ever 222 Sponge Applicator ($13) is a sponge-tipped applicator with a long wooden handle and replaceable sponges. The replacement sponges come in two different sizes, one the classic oval shape, and the other a little slimmer and longer. I purchased this beauty tool last fall, so I’ve been using it for a little over a year now.

This applicator has received some hate as people are wondering why they would pay $13 for something that you can get for $3 as a pack of 20 or 50, but I am here to stick up for this beauty tool, as I am a huge fan of it!

I purchased this last year and I’ve only purchase one set of replacement sponges (and that was as a backup). The sponge tip on this tool is very durable and it is not scratchy. I wash mine and get several uses out of it instead of just throwing it away after one use.

The replacement pack contains 6 sponges and is $9.

What I like about this is is the long handle. I like sponge-tipped applicators, but I don’t like having to be so close to the mirror when applying shadow, and I also feel that the long handle on this tool gives better control for shadow and pigment application.

If you like sponge-tipped applicators, I think this tool is fantastic and I’m really happy that I purchased it! What do you think? Yay or nay? 🙂

  1. I owned the Sephora brand sponge tip applicator and used it almost daily for eyeshadow application but one day it just tore. I replaced it but it broke within a week! I actually really like sponge-tip applicators but can’t find one that stands up to wear and tear. I’ll definitely check this one out!
