Hourglass Blush Palette Review

Another VIB sale purchase today- the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette! After falling in love with the powder palette, I decided to splurge on the blush, and I’m so glad that I did. If you don’t want to think too hard about the blush you’re using, this is a great purchase. I brought it with me during my Christmas travels, and it was perfect!

This is my first experience with the Hourglass blush line. I’ve swatched them in stores, but never purchased one. I’m glad I waited for the palette, since the value is better compared to purchasing the blushes individually, and the blushes are a good size. There are three shades in this palette: Luminous Flush (champagne rose), Incandescent Electra (cool peach), Mood Exposure (soft plum) -as described by Sephora. My favorite shade is Incandescent Electra, though I’ve been wearing Luminous Flush a lot lately. Although Mood Exposure is described as a plum shade, it’s more a neutral mauve color on me. This is a good every day color. I actually expected it to be my favorite shade.

The blushes are marbled with the ambient lighting powders, so they do have some sheen, but it doesn’t accentuate my pores; instead, these have a blurring effect. The colors are very natural looking and don’t look powdery. It requires no work to make these look good, which is always appreciated!

hourglassblush4Overall, the colors are diverse enough for a variety of looks from bold to soft to neutral, and the quality is fantastic. I find them very long lasting on my skin and they don’t fade throughout the day.

This palette would be great for someone who wants a “no muss no fuss” blush palette for use on the go, as well as daily use. 🙂

I’m still struggling with whether or not I need this! I absolutely love the ambient lighting palette and use it every day, but I just got a Lancome blush/contour/highlight compact the other day. Ahh tough decisions 🙂

  2. There was so much hype around this product that when I finally tried I was hugely disappointed…I had little hope for the Ambient Lighting Powders and ended up loving them…but then again I tend towards highlighters more anyways!

Oh no! I have heard mixed reviews too. It seems like it depends on how much powder versus color is inside of the pans that you get. I have seen some where there’s less blush color and more lighting powder!
