Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel Review

After hearing so many raves about Paula’s Choice skincare products, I decided to check out this moisturizer- the Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel. This has a lot of positive reviews, and since the brand as a whole has an overwhelmingly positive reputation, I had a lot of expectations going into trying this moisturizer!

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION (from PaulasChoice.com)

One thing I do not like about this product is that it doesn’t contain sunscreen, and you need to apply an extra sunscreen product for protection. I am not a skincare expert by any means, so I’m not sure what the reasoning is behind this. That said, I do love this moisturizer! It is one of the most comfortable, non-greasy moisturizers I have ever used. It smooths out my skin and acts as a pore filler; this moisturizer is a fantastic primer for makeup. I don’t always wear primer, but it is definitely a step I do not need with this, because it helps my makeup go on smoothly. It leaves my face really soft and conditioned.

This moisturizer doesn’t irritate my skin at all and it is very lightweight. I didn’t get any breakouts or weird reactions from using it. It does contain silicone and some parabens as you can see from the ingredient list, which I’m a little torn on. I seem to go back and forth between super natural skincare and things that contain potentially harmful ingredients, as bad as that sounds (but like this-silicone and parabens).

Although I REALLY like this moisturizer- I would go so far to say that I love it- I’m not completely sure if I would purchase it again because of the ingredients and lack of sunscreen.

Do you have any natural moisturizer recommendations that contain sunscreen? 🙂

I’ve been toying with the idea of trying some of Paula’s products. She has a great reputation and the cost of my current product line, PeterThomasRoth, is brutal on any budget. I love the products I am currently using, but if I can get similar results at half the cost it’s an obvious choice. I think the gel you reviewed may not be moisturizing enough for me, I have older, sun-damaged, skin that is naturally on the dry side (some oiliness in the T-zone) with some tendencies towards clogged pores and the occasional breakout…maybe this moisturizer would be a good one for under make-up in the summer months when I tend to be less dry- although I hate layering too, I’ve noticed a trend towards separate sunscreens lately. Really, nice review overall though! I found it informative and ultimately helpful in my decision about whether it’s worth the extra expense to try her products. Thanks!

I’m glad you found it helpful! 🙂 i can see what you mean about it not being moisturizing enough. This past week my skin has been really dry due to the weather, so I’ve been moisturizing with argan oil.
