There has been a lot of buzz about this new foundation from L’Oreal. I love matte foundations, especially demi-matte ones, so I was excited to give this a try. The drugstore has really been impressing me with their foundations in recent years, as there are several that I like. Years ago, I couldn’t find anything that really fit my preferences, as they were often too heavy or greasy.
This foundation has a lot of claims in its description:
Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this air-light, longwearing liquid formula. Lightweight and creamy, foundation goes on smooth with a demi-matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours—hiding imperfections for a smooth, clear complexion.
I would say all of these are true, with the exception of 24-hours of wear. WHY even make that claim? I think most of us would be happy with an 8-hour claim; am I right?
My shade is 105 Natural Beige. This isn’t a perfect match, as it is a little yellow, but it’s nothing that I can’t work with.
I really love the finish of this foundation. I have found that it blends beautifully with a sponge like the Beauty Blender, rather than with a brush. The finish is demi-matte as the bottle claims, and it does look very smooth and natural on the skin. If you apply too much, it does look cakey.
This foundation does accentuate dry areas, so if you have dry skin, use with caution. I have some dry areas right now due to winter being here, but after moisturizing with argan oil, I didn’t have any problems with it.
I also agree that this is a medium coverage foundation. I don’t wear concealer often, and I didn’t feel the need to add any while wearing this foundation.
This foundation does last a long time on my skin; I don’t find it starting to fade until the 8-hour mark. I don’t really care if it lasts 24 hours or not, because I seriously don’t see myself every wearing makeup for that long of a time period!
This foundation is quickly becoming a drugstore favorite for me, even more than the CoverGirl 3-in-1 foundation. The color selection is okay, but not fantastic; it could use some more variety on all ends of the spectrum.
Overall, I think this is a foundation worth trying if you’re looking for something new at a great price point. 🙂
