I could not wait to try the NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation. Being a lover of NARS Sheer Glow, I had high hopes for this foundation, particularly since it was hopping on the “very lightweight” and easy to wear foundation train. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on a sample and try before buying. 🙂
This foundation promises high coverage, long wear, and a lightweight formula. I would say these claims are true. You really don’t need much to get full coverage, but if you use too much, it will look heavy and cakey, as foundations tend to do. I definitely recommend starting out with the tiny dot they recommend.
Santa Fe was a good match for me color wise, as expected. The foundation is truly long-wearing and easily lasts all day long for me, and I usually have makeup on for 10-12 hours, if not 14 hours.
One thing I noticed about this foundation is that while it looks great in photos, it doesn’t look as nice in person, at least on me. It does make the skin luminous, but I found that this foundation doesn’t really look like “skin”. It always seemed very obvious that I had foundation on, even with the tiny drop of foundation that does cover the skin. It also clings to dry patches and makes them look even more dry. This foundation also sunk into my pores quite easily if I didn’t wear a primer (I don’t usually have a problem with this).
It is certainly worth trying, but I definitely prefer Sheer Glow to the Luminous Weightless foundation. I think a good drugstore alternative to this, one that works better, is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. I’m not saying it is a dupe by any means, but it has that similar silky feeling and it looks beautiful on the skin.
Have you tried this foundation? Did you love it or hate it?
