One of my favorite Ipsy items ever was the Avene Thermal Water Spray, so when the opportunity arose to try out the Evian Facial Spray, I was very excited about it. I’ve tried many setting sprays in the past and among my favorites are MAC Fix+, the Make Up For Ever Setting Spray, and Urban Decay De-Slick.
The Evian Spray (not an affiliate link) 5 ounce size is $12.50, so the price is not unreasonable (it also comes in trial sizes and larger sizes). I’ve paid much more for facial sprays that do not have this much product in it.
The Evian spray is very clean- the water comes out in a fine mist, and doesn’t smell like anything but fresh water. I think those with sensitive skin would like this product. I use this in a few different ways:
- As a setting spray
- To avoid looking too powdery after applying makeup
- Refresh skin in the middle of the day
- Soothes skin
- To “cool off” when I’m too hot
To compare some prices:
MAC Fix+ – $22 for 3.4 oz
Urban Decay De-Slick – $30 for 4 oz
MUFE Mist & Fix- $29 for 4.22 oz
Kat Von D Lock ‘N Load Makeup Setting Mist -$24 for 3.4 oz
Avene Thermal Spring Water – $12.50 for 5.29 oz
I’ve used all of the setting sprays above. Now, I’m not claiming they all do the same thing by any means. In terms of setting makeup, the MUFE spray does the best job, but it also has the worst misting pump. I went through 5 bottles of De-Slick and do believe it is a fantastic setting spray, but works better if you spray some on a kabuki brush first and pat it over the skin. MAC Fix+ is my current go-to setting spray. It smells amazing and I love how it makes my skin look.
What I like about the Evian spray is that it is easy for me to find (sold at Ulta) in person, and I like that it is so pure and it makes my skin feel refreshed. I also like to carry products like this in my running bag for after races.
I would purchase the Evian spray in the future since I really like water misting sprays. They are a total luxury and make a fantastic pick-me-up in the middle of the day. I can see why people like the Evian spray so much, especially since the water disperses finely and it isn’t coming out in big drops (I’m looking at you, MUFE).
What do you think of setting sprays? Gimmick? Love them? I never thought I would like the water sprays until I received one in my Ipsy bag! Then I was hooked! 🙂
