Butter London Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer Review!

BL*press sample

When Butter London contacted me about their new Patent Shine nail polishes, I basically jumped up and down screaming like a fan girl. I am a HUGE Butter London fan. They are my favorite brand of nail polish, and the makeup is great, too! Before getting sent these new polishes, I already owned 76 Butter London polishes that I purchased myself. Yes…you read that right: 76, more than any other brand I have otherwise.

Butter London polishes retail for $15, while the new Patent Shine polishes are a little more at $18 each, but come with some pretty big claims (these are directly from their website):

  • Long-wear up to 10 days
  • Shock absorbing, chip-resistant
  • Salon colour coverage
  • Gel-like cushion and superior shine
  • Fade-resistant colour
  • Smoothes
  • Strengthens
  • Prevents breakage and peeling
  • Visibly brighter, more radiant
  • No formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor,
    ethyl tosylamide, or xylene

I was sent four colors: Over the Moon, Chat Up, Shop Girl, and Her Majesty’s Red.

Let me tell you a little bit about my nails. I was a nail biter for most of my life. My nails are short and not very strong, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love a good nail polish! I also work with my hands a lot: I type most of the day, and I have 2 dogs and 5 cats. I’m pretty tough on my hands, so most polishes chip very easily on me; usually within one or two days.

BL3Chat Up

When I saw the long-wear claim, I admit that I thought “no way”. I also didn’t care too much, since I’m used to polish not lasting a long time. When I received these, I was headed for a long weekend out of town, which was the perfect time to test out the polish! I wore Chat Up first, and let’s just say I was shocked at the performance.

First, I used ONE coat for the color above. That’s it! Plus, it does live up to the long wear claim. I wore it for a week with no chipping. I typically change my polish daily because it’s something I just like to do.

A further testament to this polish is my sister’s lifestyle. Since Butter London was amazingly kind and sent several of the same shades, I gave some to friends and family. My sister is a veterinary technician and fosters animals, plus she has 10 pets of her own to deal with. Needless to say, she is rough on her nails. When she wore the Patent Shine formula she texted me to say how great it was!

BL4Over the Moon

Also, don’t be fooled by Over the Moon. This polish was a major surprise. In the bottle, it looks totally different than how it does on the nails, and the photo above is really not doing it any justice. I painted my nails with this and went for a run after it dried (it dries really fast!). While I was running, I kept holding up my hands to admire this shade. No, it is not just a taupe grey. In the sunlight, it catches hints of blue and purple. This one is a real shape shifter!

Overall, these get a major A+++ from me. I definitely need to check out some of the pink and coral shades!

Now it’s time for a GIVEAWAY!
