I really love lip pencils. I love the ones from NARS, I like the Tarte lip pencils, I am a new fan of the Clinique Chubby Sticks (just tried my first one), and I also like the Neutrogena ones from the drugstore. Now enter this new lip pencil from Butter London: Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons ($20). Are they “bloody brilliant?” Yes!
Precise and easy to use, this all-in-one formula will make you fall in love with crayons all over again. Complete with built-in sharpener, these seductive shades provide antioxidant protection and maximum moisturization.
The Bloody Brilliant lip crayon promises:
- Glossy shine
- High pigment
- Antioxidant protection
- Smooth, even lip tone
I’ve been testing these for a couple weeks now, and it was definitely love at first application. I’m pretty particular about lip products. My lips tend to be dry, and I can’t stand anything that feels thick or goopy.
These pencils do have the shine of a gloss and they are comfortable to wear. They don’t dry out my lips, and they apply smoothly. They aren’t ultra long wearing, but if I’m not drinking anything I can get 2-3 hours of wear. I’ve said this many times: I don’t like long-wearing lip products, so this length of time is perfect for me.
There are eight shades in the line, all swatched above. As you can see, there’s something for everyone! My favorite shade is probably Trout Pout, because that is my absolute favorite Butter London nail polish (and my fave nail polish color ever). I also really like Teddy Boy and Ladybird.
Another great thing about these pencils is that they have a sharpener built into the cap! I love this feature because you never have to worry about being on the go and without a pencil sharpener.
These pencils are fantastic worn alone, but can easily be mixed with lipsticks and gloss if you’re a mix and match type.
One of my favorite makeup splurges are NARS lip pencils, which are $25. These are $20, and I think these are better than the satin NARS pencils.
Overall, these pencils get a huge thumbs up from me! 🙂
