If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you may recall that I mentioned wanting a better moisturizer. I think it’s tough to strike gold in that department. I do like the MAC Studio Moisture Fix, but wish the SPF was higher (it’s only 15). Because of my search, I was excited to have the opportunity to review this new moisturizer from StriVectin, the Repair & Protect Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($89).
This moisturizer comes in a tub and has multiple claims (from Ulta.com):
- Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by enhancing collagen and elastin
- Protects against UV damage with broad spectrum SPF 30
- Help skin retain natural moisture with ingredients that maintain optimal hydration regardless of climate
I’ve been using this moisturizer since April, so I have had enough time to decide if I like it or not. My favorite aspect of this moisturizer is the SPF. When I don’t wear this moisturizer, I definitely get some freckles on my skin. It does a great job protecting my face from the sun, even when I go out for a run. I’m very happy with the SPF and how it works!
To be honest, I don’t know if I have enough wrinkles to test out that claim. That said, I do like how this makes my skin look overall.
This moisturizer is very thick and takes a little bit to sink into the skin. It doesn’t “melt” into my skin as much as I would like.
It definitely moisturizes, and it isn’t too heavy or greasy. I am very intrigued by the “any climate” claim. I live in Michigan, and we definitely have extreme temperatures here. It isn’t uncommon for it to dip to -20 in the winter months with an even worse windchill. I think that I will probably like this moisturizer during that time even more than I do in the summer months.
One major con of this moisturizer is the packaging. Sometimes the lid gets stuck and it’s REALLY difficult to open. It would definitely be better with pump packaging.
Overall, I like how the product performs and think it is a good moisturizer, but I will probably like it more in the winter months since the texture is on the thick side. 🙂
What is your favorite moisturizer?
