My favorite eyeshadows are definitely from Urban Decay. I have more from this brand than any other brand, and they strike the perfect balance between the wild colors that I adore so much, and neutrals! I have all four Naked palettes, and they all have their strengths!
I find all palettes different enough to warrant owning all four of them; however, I do understand that they aren’t different enough for everyone. If you’re a person who loves to experiment and just loves makeup, it’s easy to justify all of them. On the other hand, if you’re someone who wants a go-to palette for daily use, you may want just one or two. For daily use, you really can’t go wrong with the first two Naked palettes. My favorite is Naked 2, but as far as being a universal palette, that award truly goes to the Naked 1 palette!
Naked 3 is beautiful for those who love rosy tones. While I LOVE this palette, it is the weakest in versatility. Naked Smoky is surprising–yes, you can be as smoky as can be, but at the same time, it is surprisingly easy to create a neutral and natural look. If you like dramatic makeup, you can definitely achieve it with the Naked Smoky palette.
The swatched shades are my favorites from each palette.
Now, if I could only have one of these palettes, I would choose Naked 2. It’s my favorite of the bunch. A big reason for this is that it just complements my eye color nicely; it really makes them pop!
These palettes are certainly an investment, but I love them and use all four on a regular basis. I bring Naked 1 or 2 with me almost every time I travel. I prefer Naked 1 for travel because the case is lighter (cardboard as compared to metal on Naked 2 and 3; hard plastic for Smoky).
Do you think Urban Decay will release a fifth palette in the Naked line? I know some people are all “enough already!”, while there’s others who see no limit in the Naked line. Personally, I wouldn’t mind another palette with another color scheme, like lavender with some periwinkle shades!
