One of my major eyeshadow weaknesses are teal and green colors, so naturally I was attracted to Makeup Geek Secret Garden. This is a duochrome shadow described as “a deep espresso base with bright teal reflects.” The brown is very red in my humble opinion, more reddish than espresso.
I love this color, but it takes some work to get the color to show up. It’s easy to swatch, but on the brush it is another story. In the pan, it is a little crumbly and this translates to the brush. I have to really dig into this to get the color I want to achieve.
While it takes a little bit of work to get the pigment down on the lid, I do love how it looks when applied. I used a primer, so it did last for many hours, but at the end of the day it is definitely faded. Still, at the price point of $6 I’m not that disappointed that it didn’t last over 10-12 hours.
I have one more of the duochrome shadows from Makeup Geek and think the other one performs better than this one, but I still think Secret Garden is a beautiful shade!
