Wow, it has been an entire month since I’ve written a post here, but what a month it has been. April has flown by, mostly because I did a lot of traveling. I went to San Diego for a week (professional development for work), then I headed to Kansas for a long weekend, and I also went on a couple of smaller road trips. Needless to say, I haven’t been doing much in lieu of hobbies! I’m definitely ready to get back into a more regular routine again.
I figured a good way to get back into the swing of things would be to show an update on how panning the Stila In the Light palette is going. I have hit pan on two shades, Kitten and Champagne, so it has been a success. I have been using it more like I wanted to, which is easy since the shades are neutrals. Every single shade will not be used up, but I am okay with getting as much use as I can out of it (I definitely won’t be using the black shade up–I hardly ever use black eyeshadow).
I’ve also been quite good at not purchasing eyeshadow this year, although it IS difficult. I have made a couple of purchases within the boundaries of the original rules.
- Sephora x Minnie Mouse palette (Limited edition Disney palettes are allowed)
- Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass palette (Again, limited edition Disney)
- Makeup Revolution Welcome to the Pleasuredome palette (Ulta birthday coupon for $10–paid ZERO for the palette)
We also had a stipulation where the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette was allowed since we found out about it before the new year, but it is sold out everywhere. I’m not one to do everything in my power for a palette, so my friend and I have chalked it up to a “palette credit” for future use.
Other than that, I have been suppressing my desires for many of the new palette releases (NARS’ new dual intensity eyeshadow, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette, Kat Von D quads!). It hasn’t been easy, but I feel good about it, and I’m getting more use out of the eyeshadow that I have, which has been fun. 🙂
